Mora named Daniels Scholar

posted Apr 2, 2018, 7:28 PM by Zachary Odell

Central Senior Jared Mora was awarded the prestigious Daniels Fund Scholarship last week.
According to the website, The Daniels Fund awards scholarships based on "strength of character, leadership potential, commitment to serving communities, academic performance or promise, and a well-rounded personality."
The Daniels Scholarship is a comprehensive college scholarship that pays toward the costs of tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, and miscellaneous educational expenses.
Also, The Daniels Scholarship is an exciting and challenging program that provides the opportunity to obtain a four-year college education at any accredited nonprofit college or university in the United States, complete with financial and personal support throughout the journey.
Every year, Daniels Scholars are selected from our four-state region of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. Since 2000, Daniels Scholars have attended more than 400 colleges and universities in 49 states.
As of June 2017, the Daniels Scholarship Program has provided more than $154 million in undergraduate scholarships to more than 3,700 students.
Mora's mother, Jeanine, is an employee at Central High School, his father, Monty, is a local pastor, his older brother, Kaleb, is a college student, and his sister, Jenisah, will be a freshman at Central next year.

Central's Roth named Boettcher Scholar

March 27, 2018

Central Senior Peyton Roth has been selected as a recipient of the prestigious Boettcher Foundation Scholarship in 2018.

Roth is the first Central High School student to receive the distinguished scholarship since Cristina Gonzales in 2007 and the 16th overall.

Roth plans on attending The University of Colorado in Boulder as one of the 42 yearly award winners, joining a network of nearly 2,400 Boettcher Scholars since 1952.

This scholarship includes virtually all expenses to attend the Colorado school of his choice: full tuition, fees, a book allowance, and an annual stipend for living expenses. The award is granted for eight semesters at either a public or private four-year college or university in the state.

“The Boettcher Foundation’s Scholarship selection process is competitive and rigorous,” said Tiffany Anderson, director of the scholarship program. “Nearly 1,500 of Colorado’s top students apply each year. Peyton really stood out with his accomplishments both in and out of the classroom. We’re proud to have him representing the Boettcher community.”

Roth’s father, David, is a local Pueblo attorney and his mother, Kelly, is a teacher at Pueblo Central High School. He also has a younger brother, Ryley, who is a freshman at Central High School.
